The beginning of the year is an exciting time for teachers, families, and students. Building a classroom environment that is full of comfort, trust, and respect is top priority. Taking time to get to know our students helps to focus on a student's instructional and emotional needs. This packet includes 4 different activities to help get to know your students. "My Favorite Things" gives the opportunity to get to know students as readers, focusing on what they are interested in. "All About Me" helps teachers understand nicknames, hobbies and what student's want to learn about, supporting stronger communication and connections. "My Name" allows kids a chance to examine their names closely, and helps classmates get to know each other. "Let's Make an Acrostic" is a fun way for students to share about themselves by coming up with words, phrases, or sentences that start with each letter of their name.
